NEWS: RUBY’S BAR PUSHED OUT FROM CONEYISLAND BOARD WALK

Beloved Coney Island dive Ruby’s Bar and Grill is being ousted from the boardwalk. According to a tipster associated with Ruby’s, Zamperla, the Italian company that turned Astroland into Luna Park, has told Ruby’s that the lease will not be renewed, as feared. The quintessential Coney Island watering hole now has two weeks to vacate the premises, as does The Grill House, Tom’s Souvenir shop, and Paul’s Daughter. NEWS: STREET ART UNDER STREET

A vast new exhibition space opened in New York City this summer, with a show 18 months in the making. On view are works by 103 street artists from around the world, mostly big murals painted directly onto the gallery’s walls.
It is one of the largest shows of such pieces ever mounted in one place, and many of the contributors are significant figures in both the street-art world and the commercial trade that now revolves around it. Since 2002 they’ve been curating an exclusive collection of live and DJ sets from their favorite artists, DJs and record labels. The site is open for DJs and Artists to submit, rate and comment on their own mixes. Praveen foundedPercussion Lab with one goal in mind, to curate a collection of sets and radio shows which would bring a niche sound to a wider audience. Since then, the Percussion Lab collective has continually expanded to encompass a broader range of sounds, bringing artists such as Flying Lotus, Daedelus, Jimmy EdgarKhonnor to NYC to perform at events around town and playing an instrumental role in 2006?s BAPLab music and new media festival.
