“The deluge ceased shortly before the Hold Steady took the stage at McCarren Park Pool in Brooklyn on Sunday. Not that it mattered all that much. It was the first of this summer’s free JellyNYC Pool Parties at the site on the border of Greenpoint and Williamsburg, and more than a few concertgoers had come equipped with swimsuits. At one end of the municipal structure, they merrily abused a Slip ’n Slide. At the other end, on a makeshift dodgeball court, they abused one another.
