The third annual New York City Dance Parade will bring nearly 5,000 dancers and scores of supporters to the streets of Manhattan on Saturday, May 16, 2009 in celebration of culture, community and the art of movement.
All are invited to join this kid-friendly event intended to unite, but also raise awareness of the importance of dance in the community. Registered dance groups already range from ballet to belly dance, B-boy to the rumba, and from salsa to swing.
In addition to the dance companies and individual dancers, colorful floats, live bands and DJs will waltz, tango and pirouette down Broadway from 32nd Street to Tompkins Square Park with a dance festival finale in the park.
Hundreds of volunteers, local business and several city agencies are cooperating in support of this immense project and are available for interviews.

Eh, no. That’s just some clever (and effective) PR that club Prime is sending out. From Beatportal: “This Saturday, Prime nightclub at 511 West 28th St in New York will reopen as a “high energy dance club” and an announcement this morning is claiming that the new Prime represents the end of bottle service in NYC.”
With Wall Street jobs suffering the way they are, some might be inclined to believe that the glory days for bottle service clubs in NY are actually over. However, the clever folks at NYMag did some investigation and found that Prime and all the others like it are sticking to their tried and true business models (and bottles). (Hopefully they wont be clever enough to evolve and will go the way of the dinosaur!)
