We’re back at The Bell House for another go round of Sunday Best. This time our special guest is John Daly, an Irishman who’s making music unlike anyone else on the Emerald Isle–super deep, super spacey house that’ll be perfect for this autumn afternoon.

    Dr Motte (Berlin / Germany)
Creator of the world’s largest party, the LOVEPARADE

Dr. Motte is the creator of Love Parade, a very popular rave based event in Berlin, Germany every summer, supporting love for everyone and everything expressed by this dance culture.
He’s a guru in the techno world.

    Alex Bau (Munich / Germany

There are not many DJ`s of this type. DJ`s who believed in Techno from the first minute, DJ`s who experienced Techno from the very beginning, DJ`s who made techno their own thing. DJ`s who found their own style, even more, who developped it over the years, Dj`s who`s name is the expression for a specific sound. Alex Bau is one ofthem. But at the same time, there are some slight differences with this guy. Why focussing on just one style of music? Why only minimal sounds? Why only Techno? Why? If you can have both…

    102909_Stay

On Thursday October 29th, join us for the ghoulishly special Halloween edition of ampd! in the haunted dungeon at Stay!!

We’re going to be raising the dead two days prior to All Hallow’s Eve with super creepy decor and ghastly international talent. Costumes are highly encouraged!

First on the line-up we have Supernatural artists Kabuto & Koji. K&K have been on a worldly tear lately, having recently burst on Cocoon records and having just opened up for DEPECHE MODE. Those of you who caught their last NYC performance got to hear what these guys are all about, and if you didn’t, you definitely want to check them out this time.

We also have the honor of hosting Bill Patrick, who just destroyed Love for BLK|Market. This will be Billy’s last set before he morphs into a bat and flies back to Transylvania. So come bid him farewell and perhaps sacrifice some of your fresh blood to provide him with some much needed energy for his upcoming trip. He will be performing a peak time set… it’s bound to be evil!

along with ampd! resident DJs.. Leks the Imposter and DJ MSG

    Hosted by Elisa
Produced by PJay, the NYEX crew & ampd!

  • NEWS: SKATE BANKS WILL CLOSE

    news_skaterneedbanks

By Julie Shapiro – Downtown Express

The Brooklyn Banks is a place with no rules except gravity.
The legendary skateboard spot in the shadow of the Brooklyn Bridge feels like a world unto itself. The graffiti-scrawled brick slopes on the Manhattan side are dotted with broken glass and blowing garbage. Teenagers bound over obstacles, flying through the air after their board, twisting at impossible angles. It all seems very far from the rule of the city.
That’s about to change, as the city plans to close down the skate park as soon as December to use the space for construction staging. The Banks may not reopen until 2014, when the Brooklyn Bridge rehabilitation project is scheduled to finish. Until then, New York will be without one of the world’s top skating spots, and skateboarders will have to find a new place to go. [Read More]

  • NEWS: THE DISCO FILES 1973~78

    news_vincwletti'sdisco

By Andy Beta –The Village Voice

On my way to interview former Village Voice art director (and current New Yorkerphotography critic) Vince Aletti, I happen to pass a poster proclaiming, “Disco Is Back! Now playing at Bloomingdale’s.” This is strangely appropriate, as I’m meeting Aletti for lunch to discuss the publication of his first book, The Disco Files 1973-78: New York’s Underground Week by Week, which, as its title attests, collects five years’ worth of articles he wrote about the burgeoning disco scene as it happened.
